A close up of Chrysanthemum Descanso

Chrysanthemum ‘Descanso’

Description

Towering plants produce sprays of 5 to 7 giant, spidery blooms in sunset shades of warm orange, rust, and the softest yellow. This showy prized variety makes a statement and is truly a sight to behold.

Harvesting/Vase Life

Harvest individual stems when the flowers are one-half to two-thirds open. For spray varieties, harvest when one-quarter of the flowers on a stem have opened. Chrysanthemums are notorious for making their water murky. To combat this and extend their vase life, add a few drops of bleach to the water. Expect a vase life of more than 2 weeks with floral preservative.
