A close up of Chrysanthemum Rose Maiko

Chrysanthemum ‘Rose Maiko’

Description

These knee-high plants have a wiry growth habit and ferny dark green foliage. Thin stems are topped with miniature sprays of small, cranberry-colored, daisy-like blooms with a flecked green-and-gold center.

Harvesting/Vase Life

Harvest individual stems when the flowers are one-half to two-thirds open. For spray varieties, harvest when one-quarter of the flowers on a stem have opened. Chrysanthemums are notorious for making their water murky. To combat this and extend their vase life, add a few drops of bleach to the water. Expect a vase life of more than 2 weeks with floral preservative.
