California Poppy ‘Thai Silk Pink Champagne’

Eschscholzia californica

Features

  • Cut-and-come-again
  • Easy to grow
  • Pollinator-friendly
  • Suitable for containers

Description

Glaucous, delicate foliage reveals a profusion of silky petals that start out peach and fade to the color of vintage lace, a hue that reminds me of my grandmother’s church slip. Great for wedding work. Versatile, drought-tolerant plants are easy to grow, bloom all summer long, and are well suited for small spaces and the front of the border.

Details

Plant type: hardy annual
Height: 18 to 20 in
Site: full sun
Days to maturity: 75 days

Seed Sowing & Growing Notes

Start seed indoors in trays 4 to 6 weeks before last frost; transplant out after all danger of frost has passed. Can be direct-seeded.

Harvest when flowers are in colored bud stage. As old flowers fade and drop petals, new buds on the stem pop open, giving you at least a week’s worth of flowers. Expect a vase life of 3 to 4 days.
