Chrysanthemum ‘Kokka Hougiku’
Description
This variety is very similar to ‘Jefferson Park’, but slightly darker. Plants are medium tall, and the large, mid-lavender-purple flowers have incurved petals and a touch of gold in the centers. They would be great for arranging or bunches.
Harvesting/Vase Life
Harvest individual stems when the flowers are one-half to two-thirds open. For spray varieties, harvest when one-quarter of the flowers on a stem have opened. Chrysanthemums are notorious for making their water murky. To combat this and extend their vase life, add a few drops of bleach to the water. Expect a vase life of more than 2 weeks with floral preservative.
