A close up of Chrysanthemum George Couchman

Chrysanthemum ‘George Couchman’

Description

These extremely tall plants are a bit unruly as stems arch under the weight of the large flowers. Similar in color and form to ‘Heather James’ but blooms are more pumpkin-orange. Perfect for adding interest and movement to large-scale arrangements.

Harvesting/Vase Life

Harvest individual stems when the flowers are one-half to two-thirds open. For spray varieties, harvest when one-quarter of the flowers on a stem have opened. Chrysanthemums are notorious for making their water murky. To combat this and extend their vase life, add a few drops of bleach to the water. Expect a vase life of more than 2 weeks with floral preservative.
