Chrysanthemum ‘Seaton’s Coffee’
Description
These very tall plants produce beautiful large, flat flowers with tubular petals in a rich, smoky red-brown that lightens to a reddish cocoa as they age. It has tough, strong stems and is great for arranging. This variety is worth growing for the color alone.
Harvesting/Vase Life
Harvest individual stems when the flowers are one-half to two-thirds open. For spray varieties, harvest when one-quarter of the flowers on a stem have opened. Chrysanthemums are notorious for making their water murky. To combat this and extend their vase life, add a few drops of bleach to the water. Expect a vase life of more than 2 weeks with floral preservative.
