A close up of Chrysanthemum St. Tropez

Chrysanthemum ‘St. Tropez’

Description

This stocky grower produces extremely large flowers considering its short stature. Blooms are a vibrant red and extremely incurved petal tips have a gold cast, giving them a glowing metallic quality. The effect makes for a striking color contrast.

Harvesting/Vase Life

Harvest individual stems when the flowers are one-half to two-thirds open. For spray varieties, harvest when one-quarter of the flowers on a stem have opened. Chrysanthemums are notorious for making their water murky. To combat this and extend their vase life, add a few drops of bleach to the water. Expect a vase life of more than 2 weeks with floral preservative.
